A CLOSE game all through ended with St Martin’s edging to victory over Galmoy/Windgap in this under-16 Roinn B hurling league clash in Galmoy on Thursday.
The sides were evenly matched but in Jason Shore at full-back, Martin’s had the most impressive player on view. Not once during this hour was he beaten in the air and, with his ciotóg style, his deliveries were very influential on the outcome. Eoin Murphy too did well for the winners, while Niall Walsh tried hard for the opposition.
Thomastown 3-15 Galmoy 1-10
Thomastown had little difficulty disposing of the challenge of Galmoy in this county junior hurling league tie at Galmoy on Saturday. Three first half goals set the foundation for victory and when they led by four points at half time having played against the wind, there was no holding the winners.
Kilkenny secured their place in the the Allianz HL Division One final with a storming second-half performance winning on a final score line of 1-20 to 0-14 and will now face Cork, who defeated Tipperary, in the final in a fortnight’s time. Clare competed well with Kilkenny in the first half, but the gap between the divisions was all too apparent in the second period as Kilkenny took their opponents apart.
