John Tennyson has informed the Senior Management Team and the County Board of his decision to retire from Inter County Hurling. John joined the Kilkenny Senior panel in 2005 and was always hugely popular with Kilkenny supporters. He won 6 All Ireland Senior Medals, 6 Leinster Seniors, 5 National Hurling Leagues, 2 Walsh Cups, 2 All Ireland under 21's, 3 Leinster Under 21's, 2 All Ireland Minor medals, 2 Leinster Minor medals and an All Ireland Colleges medal with St Kierans in 2003. John will continue to play with his club Carrickshock and Kilkenny GAA would like to thank John for his outstanding contribution to Kilkenny hurling and wish him all the very best for the future.

Kilkenny GAA Supporters Club - Dublin Branch – holds its Annual Golf Classic at City West Golf Club on Friday 31st May. This event has always proved very popular with Kilkenny GAA golf enthusiasts, both in the capital and throughout Leinster, as they join with members of the Kilkenny Senior panel on the fairways of City West.

The countdown is now on for Kilkenny's opening game in the 2013 Leinster Hurling Championship. Kilkenny will take on Offaly in the Quarter-Final in O Connor Park, Tullamore on Sunday 9th June with a 2pm throw in. Tickets are now on sale at the usual outlets and a Public Sale will be arranged for Nowlan Park prior to the game and details will be announced later. Stand tickets cost €20 and Terrace €10. With Kilkenny's opening match in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship now only 18 days away, the action in the local club championship has been put to bed for the moment and will resume in July. The third round was completed last evening when Graigue Ballycallan secured a much needed win over St Martins. In the Senior Championship James Stephens are the only unbeaten team and are three points ahead of nearest rivals in Group A. Group B is now very tight following Clara's win over Ballyhale last Friday night. Ballyhale, O'Loughlins, Clara and Danesfort are all on 4 points.
