Dicksboro are J J Kavanagh & Sons Under 21A Champions

Sunday, 18 January 2015 at 9PM

Dicksboro 5-9 Thomastown 0-10

Dicksboro made no mistake on this occasion securing a comprehensive win over Thomastown in the J J Kavanagh & Sons under 21A County Final replay in Nowlan Park on Sunday. There was little between the sides in the opening stages and with the city side reduced to 14 men half way through the half Thomastown looked well capable of causing an upset here. But three goals in a three minute spell just before half-time finished this game as a contest. Dicksboro had an 11 point lead at the break and a super strike from Daragh Holohan shortly after the resumption cemented their win. They comfortably dealt with any threat from the Thomastown side and finished worthy champions on a 5-9 to 0-10 scoreline. J J Kavanagh & Sons Under 21 Final Ends in Exciting Draw

Monday, 12 January 2015 at 10AM

Dicksboro 1-16  Thomastown 3-10

Dicksboro and Thomastown will have to do it all again following a very exciting finish to the J J Kavanagh and Son sponsored Under 21A County Final played in Nowlan Park on Sunday. Thomastown had the benefit of a strong wind in the first half and their half-time lead of 3 points (1-8 to 1-5) did not seem sufficient to weather the likely Boro onslaught in the 2nd half. Dicksboro were level within 4 minutes of the restart and it was midway through the second half before Thomastown registered their first score of the half. The City side seemed to have this game wrapped up when they lead 1-16 to 1-10 with only 2 minutes remaining. But two goals from Thomastown in the 59th and 62nd minute ensured the hugely exciting finish. The replay takes place in Nowlan Park next Sunday at 1.30pm. J J Kavanagh & Sons Under 21A Final This Weekend

Tuesday, 06 January 2015 at 11AM

Next Sunday sees the remaining 2014 County Hurling title being decided when Dicksboro and Thomastown line out in the J J Kavanagh and Sons Under 21A County Final. The game will be played in Nowlan Park with a 1.30pm throw in. Patrons are asked to note that admission will be to Ardan de Gras only via stiles on Hebron Road. Both teams are worthy finalists having come through very difficult divisional campaigns. Dicksboro had a comprehensive win over Fenians in the North quarter-final but they needed a replay before eventually seeing off Clara in the semi-final. In the final they had to pull out all the stops to see off high flying Bennettsbridge. Meanwhile in the South Thomastown had a narrow quarter-final win over Piltown before accounting for 2013 county champions Mullinavat in the semi-final. They had a fine win in the South Final over Glenmore on a 0-19 to 2-8 scoreline. Click on Read More below for team photos.
